After what has been a unique and extremely anxious time for our students, Callington Community College is celebrating another excellent set of A-Level Examination results.
This is our fourth continuous year of improvement, which is quite extraordinary given the significant disruption and challenges that this cohort has faced. The two years of hard work and commitment will support our students in pursuing their individual dreams with places already confirmed at top universities throughout the UK. Results have been incredibly encouraging with 45% of students achieving A*-B grades. 20% of grades awarded were A*, A or Distinction*.

“The results are testament to the hard work of students and staff during these unprecedented and exceptional times. Whilst there were no external examinations for the vast majority of subjects, the amount of assessment that needed to be completed and marked was much larger than in any other year and students deserve the highest levels of respect for their accomplishments. The loss of formal examinations was certainly not a soft option for either our students or staff.” said Mrs Wendy Ainsworth, Principal. “I am so grateful to our entire College community; There is a supportive, caring and nurturing environment that allows students to reach their potential. I am extremely proud of all our students.”

Head of Sixth Form, Mrs Lydia Atkins remarked, “I would like to congratulate all our students on their success. 
I am very proud that Callington Community College students are able to pursue their talents and interests at university level in subjects as diverse as zoology, psychology with sociology, and media and environmental communication. I am delighted for our students who have secured apprenticeships and wish students the best of luck in their chosen areas. These opportunities are the result of our teaching, pastoral care and career guidance. Our dedicated and hard-working students have also received great support from their parents.”

Among the top performers is Rosie Petherick-Davies who achieved 3 A* grades (Biology, Chemistry and Geography). Rosie will be reading Biology at Oxford, Holly Kitchen with 3 A* grades (Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics). Holly is heading to Imperial College London to read Biochemistry. Impressive results were also obtained by Eva Pascoe, Joe Lane, Freya Stephenson, Rui Machin, Joe Hartill, Katie Jones and Matteo Mancini.

Chair of Governors, Tom Godwin said: “The Governors would like to congratulate the students and to thank the teachers for their hard work.  This has been a year of uncertainty and students and staff have had to demonstrate such resilience.  We are pleased to see that the results are as strong as ever and that the students have high aspirations and are securing the university place of their choice.”

Mrs Wendy Ainsworth said, “All of our students should be very proud of their achievements. They have worked diligently and with huge resilience and I look forward to them keeping in touch and hearing about their progress as they start their lives as confident, independent adults. Their commitment, care and passion has been inspiring.”
