Summer Concert 2018
The 2018 Summer Concert was a resounding success! With a fantastic variety of musical acts, ranging from orchestral medleys from the College Orchestra, to contemporary performances, such as an Ed Sheeran song with a chorus of “Footballs Coming Home”.
The ensembles of the College were a credit to the hard work and dedication that the students put in after school, with sets from the Friday Band, Orchestra, Junior Singers, Junior Strings, Brass Ensemble and the Choir, who closed the show.
Of course, none of this would have been possible without the hard work that went on backstage by the Music Ambassadors. They worked tirelessly over the course of the week to rehearse, plan and set up the space. They moved equipment from the Music Department to the Main Hall and set up staging. Without them the Summer Concert, along with other musical events throughout the academic year, just would not be possible.
The work of some of the music students had to be rewarded and recognised with awards being given. This year's awards went to:
Musician of the Year: Harvey J for being a huge assistance in the younger music classes, composing his own music to a very high quality and several outstanding performances.
Tim Timmis: Daisy M and Eva P for running Junior Singers, arranging music for this group, leading so many rehearsals & being involved with so many of the day to day activities in the department.
6th Form Contribution: Sam L for his dedicated work on the sound systems and for being a rare clarinetist.
KS4 Award: Finn H for the dedication to School Of Rock, Friday Band, Choir, and for such a high standard of composition.
